Derek Ruiz is a 2020 C/2B with a 5-7 165 lb. frame from Seminole, TX who attends Seminole HS. Compact young build, can get stronger. Right handed hitter, moves into contact hard on his swing, hands tend to stay behind his body and the barrel lags through the zone, opposite field contact when he can get his arms extended and hit through the ball. Has a quick exchange behind the plate and gets rid of the ball quickly, makes soft accurate throws, will need to continue to work on lower half quickness and footwork, developing arm strength, 2.22 best pop time. Good student.
