Jack Jansen is a 2018 1B/RHP with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends Sage Creek. Large frame, long limbs and lean build with wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 6.98 sixty-yard dash. Primary first baseman with fundamentally sound footwork while centering the baseball. Moves off the bag well with clean footwork while pivoting to second base. Funnels the baseball out front ad released from a clean arm stroke topping at 78 miles per hour. Throws generated accurate, on line carry across the infield. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing aggressive actions while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity while working through exchange. Released from a low three-quarters arm slot generated some carry to the bag at 77 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays balanced throughout with rotational lower half actions to contact. Direct hand path to contact with a level, line drive plane through extension. Present bat speed and strength at contact and produced hard contact between the gaps throughout batting practice. Also pitched utilizing a large rock step to leg lift delivery. Created coil over back leg at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to glove side at finish. Compact arm circle at separation and released from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Hides baseball well behind body and generated good jump on hitters. Fastball topped at 81 miles per hour with some downhill angle through the zone and running life to arm side. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and solid depth to the bottom of the zone in to mid to upper 60's. Consistently filled the strike zone with both pitches and flashed solid feel for the outer edge of the plate when repeating arm slot and release point.
