Joel Beattie is a 2021 C/RHP, 3B, UT with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Letart, WV who attends Point Pleasant. Athletic build with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary catcher with with a balanced, slightly side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with clean footwork. Lower glove circle at exchange and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated on line carry to the bag topping at 75 mph, best workout pop time of 1.98. Right handed hitter with a crouched, even stance and sweeping front side trigger. Deep hand load and worked to contact with linear lower half actions. Showed quick hands through the zone with a naturally leveraged barrel plane. Swung with intent and looked to drive the ball through the gaps. Also pitched utilizing a small side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Compact arm action at take back and released from a mid three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some jump out of hand with occasional run in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 80 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Excellent student.
