Nick Modrcin is a 2018 C/1B with a 6-2 192 lb. frame from Overland Park, KS who attends St. James Academy. Large frame with long limbs, broad shoulders and an athletic build. Primary catcher with a balanced stance while setting up to receive. Gains ground towards the bag while working out of crouched with smooth paced, sound footwork. Clean exchanges and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced softer, accurate carry to the bag topping at 73 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.15. Left handed hitter with a spread, open stance. Generated good hip torque to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose path with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent to lift the baseball with authority between the gaps. Showed developing feel for the barrel but flashed very good jumped off the barrel when on time and squared. Excellent student.
