Jack Johnston is a 2021 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Del Mar, CA who attends Torrey Pines. Medium athletic build with good present strength and room for more. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a short inside hand path and swing, stays balanced and directional well, mid field to opposite field approach, has the strength to turn the barrel but swing isn't constructed to do that at present, gets good jump off the barrel despite the barrel lag and can get some opposite field carry. Polished defensive player with quick and compact actions, showed good footwork, especially while playing second base, hands were soft. gets on top of his throws from a compact arm stroke. Good student, verbal commitment to California.
