Diego Roel Gomez is a 2023 1B/RHP with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Pharr, TX who attends PSJA. Thick build with very good raw strength for his age. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall stance with a high hand load, long and strong swing with lots of aggression and intent, max effort swing that can get him off balance at times, has present power with more to come if he can find the barrel frequently enough. 7.71 runner, moves well for his size and age at first base, makes accurate throws. Also pitched, high 3/4's arm slot with some back arch over the rubber, tends to fall off to the first base side through his release. Fastball topped out at 73 mph with cutting action at times, slow curveball with some depth at times, threw strikes with both pitches and competed well. Good student.
