Kevin Arellano is a 2020 3B/C with a 5-6 188 lb. frame from Huron, CA who attends Coalinga. Compact frame with a solid build and beginnings of strength. Primary third baseman with active footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and works through exchanges efficiently. Showed good first step angles to each side with developing range. Released from a compacted three-quarters arm slot creating softer, accurate carry across the infield. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays balanced throughout with rotational lower half actions. Compact path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and flashed solid bat speed at contact. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the ability to turn barrel to contact and work to pull side as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student.
