Emmett Hegland is a 2022 RHP/SS with a 6-0 158 lb. frame from Ten Mile, TN who attends Midway HS. Medium frame with longer limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands at a slightly closed positions on front side but carries momentum to target well. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball created some natural cut to glove side out of hand with solid downhill angle in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with good spin and sweeping depth in the mid 60's. Also showed a changeup offering that generated similar cut to glove side in the upper 60's. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing compact footwork while working to and through the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating some on line carry to the bag at 76 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed some hand speed while barrel enters and exits the zone quickly. Employed a high contact, mid field approach. Excellent student.
