2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Nathan Hostetler is a 2019 C/MIF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Milford, NE who attends Milford. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.32 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, slightly side set stance while setting up to receive. Gains ground with smooth paced footwork while coming out of crouch. Clean glove to hand exchanges with a loose glove circle. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating uphill carry to the bag, topped at 75 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with smooth exchanges. Topped at 81 miles per hour across the infield creating on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Produces some shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Compact swing plane with occasional bat speed through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field generated line drive, ground ball contact between the gaps. Showed best jump off the barrel when creating separation and attacking baseball out front. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
