Cade Whorton is a 2023 C/RHP/IF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Boaz, AL who attends Boaz. Medium frame with a lean build showing strength in the lower half. Ran a 7.22 second sixty yard dash. Primary Catcher, sitting down in the stance with a slight side saddle during drills. Receives the baseball well and works into an urgent transfer. Quick release with throws on the money as he recorded a pop time of 1.90 seconds. Feel for the position showing in games as well. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, small side step to a belt high lift before working down the hill. Good tempo in the delivery as he was athletic while proving he could repeat his actions. Released from a higher three-quarter slot as he proved he could get swing and miss with three pitches. Fastball up to 83 mph showing some arm side run. Mixed in a fading changeup that he wasn't afraid to double up. Rounded the arsenal off with a sharp, vertical diving curveball that he tunneled well off the fastball. Secondary Shortstop, proving to have lateral range as he worked into the baseball under control. Still young actions with the glove but scooped it up and worked into a quick transfer. Accurate to the bag as he threw it 82 mph. Right-Handed Hitter, even base as he works into a toe tap trigger to stride. Hands get high before showing off a naturally lofted cut. Proved he could find the barrel and did so often. Power present in the swing as he one hopped the wall to the pull-side during game actions. Outstanding Student.
