Xavier Perez is a 2022 RHP/3B, SS, OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Corpus Christi, TX who attends Veterans Memorial. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple delivery on the mound and repeats well showing athleticism, quick arm stroke through the back and creates angle while working to glove side; fastball topped out at 87 mph and jumps on hitters quickly, projects well with additional strength and shows sinking life down in the zone. Advanced feel for changeup, repeats well on it with fading life up to 80 mph; slider up to 79 mph with tight rotation and bite, depth down in the zone. Arm strength plays well across the diamond, fields it out front, comes through the backhand with balance, shows carry when on top of the ball and accuracy on to first base; arm strength plays in outfield as well, accelerates through the ball nicely, carry on throws to intended base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow base and a high hand set and back elbow; big weight shift moving into contact, occasionally gets to front side early. Long swing path through the zone, shows strength off the barrel and looks to lift at point of contact, can simplify lower half to unlock additional strength. Excellent student.
