John Nowak Jr is a 2019 C/ with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Mount Vernon, NY who attends Iona Preparatory. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.32 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a narrow, side set stand while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouch and carries momentum to glove side. Low, clean exchanges while working through transfer and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws created accurate, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side throughout with rotational lower half actions to contact. Direct hand path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent to drive the baseball with authority, created some bat speed through the zone. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the ability to turn bat head and work to pull side as well. Good student.
