2023 Preseason HS Prospect Showcase
Kaiden Lopez is a 2024 OF/RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends Oviedo. Slender athletic build with good strength and some physical maturity. 6.73 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, has athletic actions through the ball and fields it cleanly, outstanding arm strength and carry on his throws from a high 3/4's arm slot, gets on top of his throws very well, elite level arm. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a short and simple swing, gets into his hips well and clears them well through his swing, has present bat speed with more to come, squared up everything in batting practice and the games, six game barrels with a couple of extra base hits to show his power. Took a turn on the mound, works from a full smooth delivery with a fast off-line arm action and an extended 3/4's arm slot, pretty low effort mechanics. Fastball topped out at 92 mph with nice hard running life, threw strikes with his fastball. Best breaking ball was a slurvy curveball at 78 mph with tight hard spin, tends to shorten his arm stroke and muscle up on the pitch. Also threw a short slider/cutter that flashed hard downer shape. Highest level prospect with tools across the board. Good student, verbal commitment to Stetson. Named to the Preseason HS Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
