Kyle Weaver is a 2019 C/RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Upland, CA who attends Bonita HS. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.39 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, sets up with a slightly off set position while receiving. Gains some ground while working out of crouch to a taller throwing position. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Smooth arm action and release topping at 73 mph, best workout pop time of 2.01. Repeated mechanics well throughout defensive workout. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, balanced stance. Loads weight to back side well and creates some shift into contact. Hands launch on a downhill path to contact creating some leverage through extension when connecting with baseball out front. Flashed solid bat speed and strength at contact when turning barrel, produced hard contact to the pull side gap when squared. Also pitched showing a big rock step and leg kick delivery. Creates slight curl at balance point but stays tall on backside at gather. Strides towards arm side edge of the plate while front foot lands at a slightly closed position. Shows the ability to rotate top half and clear hips. Released from a compact three-quarters slot with a quick arm action. Created some downward plane with fastball sitting in the mid 70's, topped at 78 mph. Curveball has 9/5 shape with tight rotation and good late break. Maintained arm speed well with curveball offering. Works quickly and consistently pounded the strike zone with both pitches.
