Alex Cauthen is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Bulloch Academy. Medium frame with athletic, slender build at present, good projection remaining moving forward. Ran very well, posting a 6.76 seconds 60 yard dash time. Primary right-handed pitcher, short rocker step back into high leg kick over rubber, stands tall on backside and shows good line and direction to the plate with smoothness to delivery overall. Throws from three quarters arm slot with good plane, fastball worked 75-78 MPH and touched as high as 80 MPH, showing good life to the arm side at times. Curveball has good spin and depth, will get a bit sweepy at times but is a bat-misser, showed good command of both pitches to both sides of the plate with attacking demeanor. Sets up to hit from wide-based, open stance with high hands and back elbow. Leg lift timing mechanism, approach stays committed to the middle of the field, line drive swing plane with good bat speed, gets the head out and shows ability to square the ball up on a line with good strength off the barrel and developing power potential. Worked out in the outfield, quick steps to the ball, fields out front cleanly and works through the ball pretty well. Full arm action through the back with good looseness and arm speed, threw 84 MPH from the outfield with good carry. Good student.
