Joe Cronan is a 2019 3B/RHP with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Overland Park, KS who attends Olathe East HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size and strength with continued maturity. Ran a 7.43 sixty yard dash. Primary third baseman with deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball from a slightly deeper position with clean glove actions. Flashed solid athletic actions while moving to each side with the ability to throw while on the run. Released from a three-quarters arm slot, topped at 66 mph. Generated soft, accurate carry across the infield to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance. Lower half shows rotational actions to contact generating some shift. Loose, extended hand path to baseball that produced a naturally lifted plane through extension. Primarily showed a mid-field to opposite field approach. Effectively kept hands inside baseball and produced some line drive contact to the opposite field. Also pitched showing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side and utilizes lower half well with drop and drive actions to the plate. Front side lands in line with the plate and carries momentum well through extension. Clean arm circle back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional downward angle to the plate in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 mph. Curveball had 12/5 shape with some spin and occasional depth down in the zone. Worked quickly while on the mound and consistently filled the strike zone with both pitches. Very good student.
