Brandt Sobczak is a 2017 RHP/C, 1B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Anderson High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with a long and lean build, broad shoulders, high waist, projectable with room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins with a hand raise over the head with a big hip turn at top, short stride down the mound and finishes on line. Medium arm circle through the back, works to a three-quarters arm slot, creates some extension out front and able to generate cut action to fastball when working on top. Topped out at 82 mph, able to get swings and misses when located to glove side, shows some effort at release. Stayed within velocity range throughout and challenged hitters up in zone. Pitched off of fastball, flashed an 11-5 curveball with nice spin and late snap, could bury down in zone for swing and miss. Also caught, low set up behind the plate and stays low through actions, gains ground with lower half, short arm action and gets on top of throws, shows carry out of the hand. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Uses a toe tap trigger for timing, full swing through the zone with a line drive swing plane, pull hands back at start of swing, upper body swing but shifts weight well through lower half, bat speed will continue to develop.
