Kevin Michaelsen is a 2018 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Hampshire, IL who attends Hampshire HS. Medium frame with slender, athletic present build. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.09 seconds. Sets up to hit from even-based stance with leg lift trigger, hands load efficiently, repeats swing well throughout, good balance throughout, does a good job getting on line drive swing plane and maintaining it through extension. Worked to all fields on a line. Worked out in the infield, hands work well through fielding actions to both sides, does a good job transferring and making quick release across the diamond, arm strength clocked up to 76 mph. Pitched as well; longer arm stroke with plunged directionality through the back, up to high three quarters slot release, length of stroke can cause timing issues at times. Lands online and gets downhill, fastball worked 74-77 mph with slight cutting life to glove side, showed curveball with 11/5 shape and flashes of depth. Good student.
