EJ Gomez is a 2019 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from San Pedro, CA who attends Bishop Montgomery. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange quickly. Maintained momentum to the bag while released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throw produced accurate carry to the bag topping at 80 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly closed stance and sweeping leg lift trigger. Coils hand slightly at load and worked to contact on direct path. Utilized a line drive barrel plane with good hand quickness through extension. Also pitched showing a smooth paced side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created some natural cut to glove side topping at 73 miles per hour. Looked to challenge the strike zone while showing developing feel for the edges of the plate. Good student as well.
