Nick Stone is a 2017 OF/3B with a 5-8 200 lb. frame from Des Plaines, IL who attends Maine West. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build. Present strength throughout, projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.64 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball with developing fluidity. Clean, smooth paced glove to had exchanges while working through transition. Releases from a high three-quarters slot, topping at 75 mph. Throws produced some on line carry with slight recoil at finish. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing similar deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling out front. Releases from a overtop arm slot topping at 74 mph. Shows some range to each side with good first step angles. Left handed hitter with an open stance. Stacks weight to back side at load and launches to contact on and uphill plane. Lifts and separates at load while swing with intent to drive the baseball deep into the gaps. Present strength and bat speed at contact, driving line drives to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice producing hard, loud contact.
