Zack Given is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Boulder, CO who attends Fairview. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for strength with continued physical development. Ran a 7.39 sixty-yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilizes lower half well generated good direction to the plate. Hides the baseball well with a clean arm circle and separation and released from a low three-quarters arm slot with good arm whip through extension. Fastball had some sinking action with solid run to arm sink in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that also showed solid sinking action in the mid 70's. Also flashed a curveball with proper shape and some depth in the upper 60's. Consistently filled the zone with all three pitched and located to each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with low, smooth exchanges while working through transition. Long arm circle and released from a high three-quarters slot topping at 78 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance. Linear lower half actions to contact with a big shift into baseball. Loose path to contact with an naturally lifted plane through extension. Looked to turn the barrel to contact with aggression and created good leverage at contact. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
