Caydon Koolen is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 5-9 172 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Point Loma HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned well throughout frame. Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball with short and quick steps, works through the ball well, fields the ball out front and works to a tight and compact release, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release, arm strength will continue to develop as well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a simple toe tap trigger for timing, stays direct to the ball and shows nice bat speed through the zone with some lift out front. Steady line drive swing plane through the zone and shows quickness to turn on the ball while creating back spin to pull side. Projects for additional strength off the bat. Very good student.
