Carter Thessing is a 2017 C/SS with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Russellville, AR who attends Russellville High School. Strongly built, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, compact set up behind the plate, pops straight up out of the crouch, repeats actions well and projects for additional strength to throws with incorporation of lower half, quick transfer into short arm action with compact and tight release, gets on top of throws nicely. Switch-hitter, similar swing from both side, shows a tick more strength at present from the right side. Begins with a leg lift trigger and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Short swing path to the ball with sound bat speed and quick hips shows nice quickness to hands and creates extension out front with solid contact coming off the barrel when on time. Begins with an open stance from the leg side with a similar hand set from the left side, uses a high leg lift trigger to get closed at point of contact. Hits the ball out front similar to the right side, line drive swing plane with a short path to the ball, creates steady contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Very good student.
