Matthew O'Connor is a 2020 1B/RHP with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Saddle River, NJ who attends Don Bosco Prep. Large, broad shouldered frame with present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.82 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, short steps coming off the base, clean glove at the ball working into a full arm action through the back, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy across the diamond. Also pitched, simple side step moving into delivery with medium leg lift, stays tall on back and gathers over the rubber with some drop and drive to plate. Medium arm circle through the back working to a high three-quarters slot, stays on line towards the plate, pitched to contact. Fastball topped out at 66 mph and threw strikes, nice feel for 11-5 shaped curveball with sound depth to the bottom of the zone at 54 mph, mixed well, tends to slow arm action at release. Very good student.
