John Guzman is a 2017 MIF with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Coral Springs, FL who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS. Medium, athletic frame with a lean, projectable build and quick-twitch athleticism to all around actions. Ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, moves well to the ball with short steps, sound footwork working through the ball, showed big range to backhand in game, soft hands, consistently gets on top of throws with a short and fast arm action before showing off big strength and carry out of hand. Sound actions in the outfield too with similar big arm strength, more there with continued incorporation of lower half, shows carry and accuracy to the bag. Also pitched, begins with a high leg lift and works to a three-quarters arm slot with a deliberate temp. Lands online with lower half and generates short running life to fastball that topped at 84 mph. Tight rotation to curveball with short tilting life and 11-5 shape, flashed solid depth. Righthanded hitter at the plate, begins swing by loading hands back. Employs a contact approach with ability to hit to all fields, showed bat speed coming through the zone and has the ability to attack inner half pitch and pull hard down the line.
