Justin (JT) Smith is a 2020 1B/RHP, OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from El Cajon, CA who attends Grossmont. Smith has a medium sized frame with a thicker build. Defensively he showed solid footwork around the bag at 1B with arm strength up to 75 MPH. He made accurate throws and showed a deep funnel to transfers. He also worked out from the outfield and showed developing OF actions with arm strength up to 78 MPH. At the plate Smith starts with an upright open stance and uses a leg lift with a coil to start his swing. He has static hands at load and has a loose path through the zone. Smith flashed some bat speed and strength in his swing while he looks to lift the baseball to the middle of the field. Very good student.
