Blaze Ekelund is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Canyon Lake, CA who attends Temescal Canyon HS. Ekelund has a medium sized frame with a lean projectable build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long loose arm action. The ball comes out of his hand clean and there's more velocity in there. Ekelund works downhill well and has a long stride with good direction to the plate. He uses his lower half well. His fastball has good life down in the zone and he did a good job of missing bats with his fastball down in the zone. He threw an 11/5 slider with some tightness to the spin. Defensively he moves well to the ball in the outfield and has developing outfield actions. At the plate Ekelund starts with a slightly open stance with a narrow base. He has good shift to the baseball and swings on a line drive path. He pulled the ball with hard contact at times and showed the ability to lift the ball. Good student.
