Amani Bernard is a 2016 OF/IF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Englewood, NJ who attends Paramus Catholic High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength throughout frame, projects physically with room to fill out. Ran a 5.30 40-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short steps to the ball, moves well on feet and works through the ball well, short arm action with a lower arm slot at release, upright release and projects with continued incorporation of lower half into release. Same athleticism in the infield, moves well side to side with quick footwork especially to backhand, arm strength will continue to develop, fields the ball out front with a short arm action on throws across. Righthanded hitter, square stance in the box with an upper body swing. Simple swing in the box with a short and direct path to the ball, contact approach with the ability to get the barrel to the ball, repeats swing mechanics well with line drive swing plane. Good student.
