Jaylen Thompson is a 2020 OF/RHP, 3B with a 6-4 195 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Evangel Christian Academy. Extra large frame with an athletic body. Room to add strength without sacrificing athletic ability. Ran a 7.13 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary outfielder. Loose and whippy arm action with a higher effort release. Shows raw arm strength topping out at 87 MPH. Shows some athletic ability that should continue to improve. Also worked out from first base. Fields the ball out in front. Clean footwork moving around the bag. Lower slot release with carry across the diamond. Also worked out from the infield. Fields out with front with some smoothness to glove. Moves well. Higher effort into release. Makes athletic plays that should help up the middle. Righthanded hitter with a narrow and slightly open stance. Really works onto the front side with linear shifts into contact. Line drive plane through the zone looking to get elevated contact. Works gap to gap. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a deceptive delivery. Works from multiple different slots ranging from a high three-quarter to side arm release. Best release from the lower slots and creates more movement on the fastball at 82 MPH. Creates some lateral movement on the slider from the lower slot and can sink a changeup as well. Very good student. Named to the 2019 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
