Jacob Rothenberg is a 2018 OF/1B/RHP with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Lamar HS. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.79 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth paced footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and working through transition. Works over front side well and released from a long arm actions. Throws produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and deep hand load. Works to contact on a loose, extended path with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Consistently looked to lift the baseball between the gaps generating good carry when squared. Also pitched utilizing a a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with slight drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some downhill tilt through the zone in the low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Changeup flashed some wiggle to arm side in the low 70's. Also showed a knuckleball that featured some flutter in the low 60's. Consistently attacked hitters and filled the zone, showed developing feel to each edge of the plate. Good student as well.
