Lucas Gray is a 2017 C/OF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Latham, NY who attends Shaker High School. Medium, athletic frame with a long and lean, projectable build with room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 5.73 40-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, upper body release with a lower arm slot on throws, shows accuracy on throws to second base, actions and arm strength will continue to develop with additional usage of lower half. Showed a full arm actions on throws from the outfield and does a nice job of getting on top of throws, mostly at release but gathers behind the ball well with a similar arm slot on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a closed stance in the box and a narrow base. Upper body swing with a high hand set, direct path to the ball, short line drive swing plane and gets the barrel through the zone. Occasionally opens front side early, shifts weight through lower half, keeps hands in through swing, short finish through the ball. Very good student.
