Colton Makinster is a 2017 OF/RHP/2B with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from Nampa, ID who attends Columbia HS. Medium frame with slender, athletic build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.47 seconds. Hits with line drive swing plane from slightly open stance, will drift open to 3B side, quick hands to and through the zone. Contact-oriented swing, shows ability to hit the ball to all fields with simple approach and overall mechanics. Moves well to the ball in the OF, showing quick feet with quality footwork and athleticism. Smooth and athletic fielding actions, on balance through gather and release, quality arm strength with OF velocity up to 79 MPH. Pitched as well, shorter arm action to mid three quarters slot, arm has some quickness, pounds the bottom of the zone with sinking fastball 74-77. Uses lower half well in delivery. CB showed slurvy break with some depth; slider was more horizontal with solid spin. Very good student.
