Andrew Castaneda is a 2017 3B/1B with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Menifee, CA who attends Paloma Valley HS. Large frame with a solid, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a tall, open stance and high hand/back elbow set. Compact, inside plane with a line drive path. Primarily works the middle of the field but shows the barrel and hand control to work all fields. Created best bat speed when creating extension through contact. Worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth, fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball. Throws from a compact three-quarters arm slot that produces accuracy across the infield. Good atheltic actions for that project well as a third base prospect at this time. Tools will continue to develop with repetition and maturity. Very good student as well.
