2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Dane Randall is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from North Liberty, IA who attends Iowa City West. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.81 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder smooth paced, fundamental footwork while closing to the baseball. Creates good momentum while working through transition with clean glove actions. Extended, smooth glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Generated good carry to the bag while throwing, topping at 87 mph from the outfield. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing clean, smooth footwork while surrounding the baseball. Flashed ranged to each side with athletic actions while creating momentum tot he bag. High energy arm action from a three-quarters slot. Topped at 84 mph from the infield producing accurate, on lien carry to the bag. Also showed good aggression with clean actions while charging slow roller. Right handed hitter with a slight crouched, straight stance and high leg lift trigger. Creates slight wrap and coil with front side at load. Hands start at a compact position and launch to contact on a direct path. Shows a naturally lifted, smooth swing plane through extension. Primarily showed a mid-field approach but has the barrel skills and willingness to drive the baseball the other way as well. Has present bat speed and strength at contact when front side trigger is on time and contact is squared. Good student. Named to the 2016 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
