Jediah Schmidt is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Mitchell, SD who attends Mitchell HS. Medium, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill out. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, shows a simple and low effort delivery with nice extension out front with a full arm action working to a high three-quarter release point. Gets on top of fastball and showed nice feel out of stretch, topped at 79 mph with occasional running life to arm side. Showed ability to throw curveball for strikes, 1-7 shape with nice depth, changeup featured good sinking life with ability to throw to left-handed hitters. Good routes in the outfield, fields out front, short and quick arm action, smooth to ball with upright release, accuracy on throws with present strength. Left-handed hitter, starts with a tall and open stance and a medium hand set. Short swing path to the ball, keeps hands in throughout with a short weight shift in lower half. Remains balanced, gets the barrel through the zone with consistent contact to middle of field. Excellent student.
