Davis Cop is a 2019 C/OF, UT with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Valencia. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary catcher with a balanced, athletic set while setting up to receive the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with fundamental footwork. Clean glove circle and exchange while working through transfer. Released from a compact arm action topping at 72 miles per hour to the bag. Throws produced accurate carry to the bag, best workout pop time of 2.03. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays balanced and fluid throughout swing with rotational lower half actions to contact. Loose path to contact with a naturally leveraged barrel plane through extension. Present bat speed with strength at contact and showed a mature presence while at the plate. Consistently worked to the middle of the field producing hard, loud contact to each outfield gap. Named to the 2017 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student as well.
