Victor Fontanez is a 2016 C/3B with a 5-9 195 lb. frame from Palm Bay, FL who attends Bayside HS. Medium frame, strong, sturdy athletic build. Moves well, ran a 7.04 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, solid crouch and setup behind the plate, looks the part. Compact arm-action with some natural arm strength, deliberate and measured footwork, accurate throws to bases. Popped as low as a 2.03 in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, multiple toe-tap timing mechanism. Tight hands set, stays inside the baseball, flashes line drive swing plane. Shows some feel for barrel, able to repeat approach well, good plate coverage with ability to work to the opposite field. Good student.
