Colby James is a 2020 3B/RHP, MIF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Marble Hill, GA who attends Pickens County. Medium frame with a strong build. Primary third baseman with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated on line carry to the bag topping at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Looked to throw bat head out front to contact while utilizing a mid field to pull side approach. Consistently barreled up contact flashing some jump off the barrel when squared. Also pitched utilizing a smooth paced rock step to leg lift delivery. Slight pause at gather and stays tall on back side. Released from a three-quarters arm slot creating some downward plane out of hand with occasional cutting action in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with early break out of hand and solid depth. Consistently looked to attacked the bottom of the strike zone and induce weak contact. Very good student as well.
