Reed Smith is a 2016 SS/2B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Russellville, AL who attends Russellville HS. Medium athletic build, has some present strength with more to come. Very good runner, 6.57 in the sixty, has lots of fast twitch actions on defense, stays low and works through the ball very well, quick feet with very good range, makes accurate throws with good arm strength, plays defense aggressively. Right handed hitter, deep high hand set with a big arm bar load, spread stance, moves to front side early, aggressive upper half swing, swings hard and has some bat speed and flashes some lift and gap power, timing not consistent and deep load causes length issues at times but has the raw hitting tools to improve with adjustments. Projects very well for a middle infielder. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi State.
