Michael Tiede is a 2016 SS/2B, RHP with a 6-1 168 lb. frame from Avon, MN who attends Apollo. Medium frame with wiry strength, room to fill in frame. Left handed hiiter with a balanced stance and leg lift trigger. Quick, compact path to contact with balance throughout swing. Rotational mechanics to contact, and tends to lead direction off contact. Shows some bat speed with the ability to occasionally produce hard line drive contact to pull side. Primarily uses a mid-field approach. Best contact occurs when front sides stays on contact with lower half directional drive. From the infield shows a longer arm action from the well, topped at 75 mph. Smooth two hand funneling glove actions with a deliberate transition. Shows some range with plus 1st step actions. Also pitched with an overhead arm action and long lower half stride. Fastball shows some downhill angle ranging from 74-77 mph. Direction tends to vary when head pull off of target line. Curveball shows some tighter spin with 12/6 shape and deceptive actions. Good feel for curveball offering, pounded the zone often, topped at 66. Flashed as changeup as a third pitch, topped at 68 mph.
