Ryan Guardino is a 2017 SS/OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA who attends San Marcos HS. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed hitter with a tall, narrow stance and small leg kick trigger. Creates some shift into contact with rotational lower half actons. Flashes present bat speed with strength at contact. Primarily showed a mid-field to pull side approach, but has best jump off barrel when driving the baseball to the gaps. Projectable, mechanically sound line drive swing plane. Worked out defensively from the infield and the outfield. From the infield shows solid glove actions with a slightly deeper funnel. Clean, low glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Smooth footwork with solid range to glove hand side. Throws across the infield from a low three-quarters arm slot that produces some carry with accuracy. From the outfield shows smooth glove actions while closing and working through the baseball. Clean glove to hand exchanges will working into throws. Deep arm stab at separation with a quick, loose arm action to finish. Created accurate carry to the bag topping at 84 mph. Very good student as well.
