Alex Verdugo is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-2 150 lb. frame from Bonita, CA who attends Bonita Vista. Verdugo has a medium sized frame with a long lean build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. His arm works well and he has arm speed. The ball comes out of his hand well and he gets some late life on his fastball. Verdugo throws a 12/6 curveball at 72 MPH with good depth and sharpness to it. He throws a power curveball that is a legit swing and miss pitch. Verdugo also throws a change up at 71 MPH with some sink to it. Defensively he has smooth athletic actions in the outfield with good footwork. Verdugo has easy actions with good arm strength up to 86 MPH. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance with a wide base. He showed some middle of the field pop when his swing was timed up and he showed some hitting tools. Verdugo projects at the plate with strength gains. He's an athletic two-way player with a lot of upside with strength gains. Named to Top Prospect Team.
