Ben Hummel is a 2017 RHP/MIF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Jesup, IA who attends Jesup HS. Medium frame, slender build, room to fill out physically as he continues to put on additional muscle. Ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, throws from a 3/4 arm slot, long loose arm action, across body at times, uses lower half. Fastball has arm side run, can get in on hitters hands. 11/5 curveball shape, big break. Slider sweeps across zone, good feel for it. From the infield, good lateral range, covers good ground glove side, clean exchanges, over the top throwing action, showed carry on throws. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with an open stance. Swings on a line drive swing plane, good balance, showed lift at the point of contact, developing extension, solid bat speed.
