Brandon Holdren is a 2017 3B/RHP/SS with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Baytown, TX who attends Barbers Hill HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and nice present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, takes long strides moving towards the ball, quick transfer to get ball out of glove, showed off athleticism with spin play going up the middle, covers ground, gets on top of throws well. Fields the ball out front in the infield, extra steps at release, short and compact arm action ,gets on top of throws and shows carry and strength to throws out of the hand. Also pitched, similar short and compact arm action while working to a three-quarts arm slot. Able to create cut action on fastball due to release point, topped out at 80 mph, short stride down the mound and works over front side well. Missed bats with fastball, lowers slot slightly on 11-5 shaped curveball, short depth with some sweep to back foot of lefthanded hitters. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a lower hand set in the box. Full and easy swing coming through the zone, shows nice bat speed and find the barrel with regularity. Repeats mechanics well, shows nice carry and contact to the gap, on time with timing triggers. Named to South Uncommitted Top Prospect List. Good student.
