TJ Berry is a 2018 SS/RHP/OF with a 6-1 145 lb. frame from Fayetteville, GA who attends Whitewater HS. Medium frame with very slender present build; good projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 6.70 seconds--a plus time. Sets up to hit from even-based stance, leg lift trigger with hands drawn back into load, tends to drift forward with hands into launch, middle field approach with line drive swing plane, does a good job getting the barrel out on time and showing solid line drive contact to all fields. Late glove down in the infield, deep funnel, flashes athleticism to footwork to both sides, has some zip on throws, clocked up to 82 mph across. Also worked in OF, stops momentum to field, shows quickness to footwork in regaining momentum via crow hop, quick arm action with quick release, clocked up to 81 mph. Pitched as well, medium-length arm stroke with high three quarters slot, does a good job creating angle, can get to glove side, fastball worked 76-80 mph. Will separate hands late and be mistimed as a result. Showed curveball with good depth and shape, 11/5, lands it for strikes. Around the zone with both pitches. Named to 2017 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List; very good student.
