Mike Atamanchuk is a 2008 1B/3B with a 6'3'', 225 lb. frame from Englewood, Florida, who attends Venice High School. He has an extra large frame with good present strength in his body. He is very athletic for a player of his size. Defensively he has soft hands at first base and has the ability to pick balls in the dirt. He moves well around the first base bag showing nice footwork. He has a quick arm on his throws across the diamond, and the throws are online. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with strength in his swing. Atamanchuk has solid bat speed through the hitting zone and he gets good extension out front. There is power potential in his swing that may makes him a middle of the order run producer. He stays balanced through his swing, and shows good upside at plate. Atamanchuk is also a good student.
