Mavrick Martinez is a 2019 2B/ with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Lutheran South Academy. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 7.03 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman with deliberate footwork while closing to and surrounding the baseball. Active hands while funneling the baseball out front. Smooth paced exchanges while transferring and released form a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced softer, on line carry to the bag topping at 67 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Keeps swing simple and repeats barrel and path. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the barrel feel to work the other way as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student.
