Alexander Velez is a 2015 C/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Chaparral HS. Tall slender build, lots of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, balanced stance, opposite field approach, exaggerates staying inside the ball, makes hard line drive contact when hands stay short to the ball, ball comes off the barrel well, got longer occasionally in games than in BP. Short compact arm action, tends to stand up to throw, can stay down better for quicker transfer and improved arm strength, shifts well and is a willing blocker. Excellent student.
