Nicholas Gray is a 2016 RHP/OF, MIF with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Somers, CT who attends Somers. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out with additional strength. Primary right-handed pitcher, tight arm circle through the back with a high three-quarter release point. Compact delivery, slight hip curl at top of delivery before striding towards the plate. Fastball topped out at 77 mph, effort at release but generates good plane down in the zone with some life to his arm side, maintained velocity. Mixes in a curveball effectively, shows 11-5 shape with tight rotation and nice depth at 70 mph. Short crow hop to gain momentum on throws from outfield, moves well to the ball and gets behind it, shows a tight and compact arm action with accuracy on throws. Right-handed hitter, starts with a crouched and narrow stance in the box. Shifts weight well through his lower half and repeats it on swings. Shows nice barrel control, full swing with bat speed coming through the zone, line drive swing plane with nice jump off the barrel to pull side. Good student.
