Thi Mai is a 2015 3B/C/RHP with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from Pearland, TX who attends St Thomas. Medium frame with broad shoulders and a strong, physical build with nice present strength. Primary third baseman, gets on top of throws and shows good arm strength on accurate throws across the diamond. Full arm actions, works through the ball well with short steps to the baseball. Gains ground with lower half on throws to second base from behind the plate, receives out front and accuracy on throws. Works exclusively from the stretch on the mound throwing from an over the top slot. Stays balanced through delivery with some effort at release, hides the ball well. Fastball topped at 82 mph and showed a strong feel for an 11-5 curveball at 71 mph which serves as put away pitch. Right-handed hitter, hand waggle pre-pitch, shows a nice feel for the barrel with strength to pull side. Swing has some length but shows good bat speed and creates torque in swing. Good student.
